Inspired by the amount of time we spend looking at our phones and directly at our screens to navigate, I created this two-person exploration app. One person, the Director, is at a computer, the Explorer is on the street. The Director receives the real-time location data of a mobile user through node and can then guide the Explorer to turn right or left by sending vibrational signals. The phone can then be kept pocket and the Explorer can be guided on an unknown adventure. This application is an experiment in exploring one’s city by surrendering navigational control and removing the distraction of a screen.
